cant open database after 2016 upgrade

My IT department upgraded my MSoffice from 2010 to 2016.
Years ago I created a 2003 database back-end with user level security features.

All of my front-ends have been made or converted to the newer access formats as I upgraded to newer versions of access.
In order to keep my user level security, I have maintained using my 2003 back-end.

My shortcuts to start my databases have always pointed to Access and then the database file and then the switch to point to the workgroup file.
This has worked through a few upgrades.

This is an example of my shortcut that I have always used.
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\MSACCESS.EXE" " t:\moldroom\purchasing database ver 2\parts data.accdb" /wrkgrp "t:\moldroom\maint records\secured1.mdw"

are you sure it is a 2003 backend and not a 97 backend? 97 stopped be supported when 2013 was released. Other thought is that you have had 64bit access (not windows) installed - 64bit won't run anything prior to 2007

Otherwise according to MS it should still be supported. What messages do you get when you try to open the file?

Be aware it won't be long before 2003 will cease to be supported as well, so may be worth your while taking the opportunity to drop workgroups and create your own security solution.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
