Can't you just fill out the criteria?

Add TRANSTYPE as a field in the query with "WHERE" in the Total line. Same for STATUS - say In("A","B",....). For the fields you want to total use SUM in the total line.

Either use the above query in a new query and only include those 3 fields or get rid of all fields except QTY, TRANSTYPE and STATUS, do the Totals but choose "Sum" in Total row for QTY, and "Where" for Transtype(in criteria put L and "Where" for STATUS(in criteria put A or B or C or D ...

The project numbers need to be grouped together, theres multiple entries for each project number so theres some redundancyClick image for larger version.

It's wrong because the Totals from QTY are wrong. There are multiple entries for each project NUMBER

You aren't following instructions! Does the criteria of status match that of transtype? Please refrain from using the word "wrong".

Go back to a basic query - what are you trying to do? If you wish to total by Number then add just those two fields and get that working, with criteria. Do not add any more tables or fields until that is working. After that you can add other fields and track down where the error is occurring.

Note: "Number" is an Access reserved word and will cause undetermined errors. It is best to avoid those.

We're only needing the L from Transtype

You have each letter on a separate line. Do you repeat each transtype as well? If not you will get if A and L/or If B/or If C/or If D, etc. Did you go back to basics?

L is the only criteria in TRANSTYPE.

    A B C D E F G H are on separate lines under criteria for STATUS

So, read one line at a time from left to right, you will notice that if status = B then it doesn't matter what transtype is. Either follow post # 3 or add it to every line.
