How to import filepaths then display PDFs and images in Access 2016? (Also posted in import subforum

How to import filepaths then display PDFs and images in Access 2016? I have text in an Excel 2016 column with thousands of PDF and image file-path names that I'd like to import into Access 2016 associated with other fields in the Excel (tab-delimited data with bibliographic data about the pdf or image). The assocaited images and PDFs are in files and folders to which the filepaths relate. I just want to see the image or pdf, along with the related fields, but without having to retype the thousands of filepath entries for the PDFs and images. I've tried importing, and can get the text filepaths, but getting that path to render in a form is the problem. I tried creating the Access field as an attachment, but I get unparseable error on import from Excel--filepaths will not import into an attachment field. Also I cannot copy those filepaths into datasheet view in Access. I tried ActiveX control. I have Acrobat X, but it does not appear in my ActiveX window; I get OLE server is not registered error. Tried registering my OLE server by finding and fixing the OLE-server error by using regsrv32 to register a triedit.dll file that appeared missing. I ppear to have successfully performed that process, but still get OLE error, even after reboot. Still cannot get Adobe Acrobat to appear in my ActiveX controls window. I'd like Acrobat X as distinguished from Reader so that I can comment, encircle, and highlight. Tried browser control to show the PDFs and images, but can't get that to function either--PDF opens in the native program, not within the window. Firefox is default browser, set to preview with the browser. Running Windows 10. I have IE, Edge, and Chrome as browsers too. I don't mind embedding the PDFs/images as OLE objects, I have the space. Just want to do whatever works. Any help/insight on this would be great. Thanks! Doug

Import filepaths as strings into a text field.

    Display PDF in InternetBrowser control

Display other image types in an Image control.
