can't put 2 subforms on a main form

I am new to access (2nd week!!!) and have muddled my way through to this point with dummies guide and forum help!!! but am stuck again!


I've created an inventory database for work and am trying to add a second subform to my form but it doesn't seem to hide the data when I move to adding a new item.

as you can see the valuations have gone but the maintenance is still there.

this is what the relationship bit looks like

I have tried to follow what forums have said but get quite lost in the computer speak.....

Did you set the Master/Child Links properties of the subform container control?

Muddling is not a good strategy.
Look through the videos and work through the tutorials in this link.
2 weeks of Access without some database will lead to frustration.

trouble is this is such a small part of my job would just like it to get set up so that I can move onto the next item on the list - understand muddling through is not the best option but probably won't use database after this project again so don't really have the time to follow all instructions it's doing what I want to this point just need help with this final but.

thank you - no I haven't looked at Master/Child link properties will have to work out where to look for that.

In Form Design View of the Main Form

1. Select the Subform Control
2. Go to the Properties Pane
3. Make sure the PP 'Selection type' (top, left of box) says Subform/Subreport
4. Click on Data

Set the Master/Child link properties to the Fields that are the link between the two Forms.
