Question Average on a Group Average

One of my colleagues asked me a question that neither of us could find when we searched for it. It's been about a decade since I've used Access for reporting and things have changed drastically in Access 2013 so I'm not sure if it's my lack of knowledge or the system that I can't figure this out.

We need the summary to do an average on the averaged fields for each group. So basically instead of summarizing 10 records which equals 293 we need to summarize the 4 groups average which equals 394. I'm not sure how to do it. I thought back in the day I could name the group fields and then average that name, but instead I get a popup for the name of the field.

    Thanks,
    Patrick

The popup is coming up because you have a field in square brackets that Access does not recognize. To do an average, first create a totals query with the data you want to average, then a second query to average those fields.

Thank you aytee111. That was the only method I could think of that would work, but was hoping for a simpler approach within the report. I have made the query for him and he looks to be good now.

Thanks again for the quick reply.
