    default property values

    Hi,

I am trying to define default property values to controls, forms, reports etc.
I tried without success according to posted in this blog:
    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/thi...port-settings/

dont seem to find where the property sheet caption says “Selection Type: Default"

    could anyone post a picture?

I believe it's a good practice to set default properties for consistency

    thanks

There is a setting in the properties of the fields on the form under data and as well as the design view of the tables that says "default value". This is were you would put in your default values.
If you are talking about what types of values are accepted then you would do that under the design view of the tables with the data type and input mask.

    Hi,

    thanks for the reply
i believe you misunderstnad me - I mean default property value not default value
for example the width of a textbox is a property
if i will set a default value then every textbox will have this width by default

Following those instructions does nothing for me, either!

To set the Default Properties for, in example, a Textbox, in Form Design View

    1. Create a Textbox
    2. Set its properties as you will...width, height, font (bold, italic, etc) and so forth
    3. Go to the Ribbon
    4. Click on the Design Tab
    5. Go to the 'Controls' section
    6. Click on the Set Control Defaults icon

Any Textbox you place on the Form, thereafter, should be formatted the same.

In v2007, the Set Control Defaults icon is located in the where 'Use Control Wizards' and 'ActiveX Controls' icons are...and looks like a crossed hammer & wrench. If you hover over the correct icon it should say Set Control Defaults.

You should be set, but for that Form only! If you want to have all Forms, in a given Database, formatted the same, you can do the above, then save it as a 'form template,' and copy and paste this template each time you start a new Form. The formatting will then be copied, as well.

The problem with making anything foolproof...is that fools are so darn ingenious!
