External Table is not in the expected format (error message)

    Windows 10, Access 2016.
I am attempting to link a DBF file. I use another program which creates DBF files. Some link with no problem, others give the above error message. The details on the files are exactly the same. Both files have all permissions enabled, read and write.
Any ideas on what is wrong?
    All Help is appreciated!
    Rick

MS removed the ability to connect to dbf files in access 2013. They have reintroduced it, but for office 365. See these links for more information

External Table is not in the expected format (error message)'

It is available in the one I am using. It is under external data, More. DBF files. Some of my files link just fine others give me the listed error.
