Prevent a user from accessing database VIA other apps

    Hi guys!

First of all, I'm glad I found this forum on the Internet. I get the solutions I want. Wanna thank Rawb, RuralGuy, Matrix, pbaldy, ConneXionLost, and Datagopherdan.

Now, my question is, is it possible to prevent a user in a ULS-secured database from accessing the database "externally," such as VB, Excel, Word... practically all applications except Microsoft Access?

I want one user to be able to link an Access query to an Excel PivotTable, and I want the rest to be prohibited from accessing the DB "externally."

    Hope I get a response.

    Thanks in advance!

Not really. Unfortunately databases are designed to allow access to information, not to restrict it.

You could try converting the database to an .MDE, but I don't know if that would stop outside access.

    Okay, I'll check that.
