Adding new data to empty table columns from excel, based on ID

Hi - i am sure this is something simple...

I have a big Access table with many records and a separate excel table with a few records relating to some of the records on my existing Access table, based on a shared ID.

I have created new placeholder fields in my Access table and would like to populate those fields with the relevant data from my external Excel table. How do I bring in the external data into the correct fields based on the shared ID. I was going to do it manually, based on filtering one by one in the relevant Access table column and pasting the relevant information from excel but I know there must be an easier way.

I would be grateful for assistance here.

    Thanks,

    Adam

Presuming you can link to or import the Excel data, an update query:
