    File size growth

I have an investment database that I update monthly or quarterly. It's old, prior to Access 2000. File size has grown steadily from 20MB to 25, 30, etc. mid 2016 it grew to 71MB. Then between two saves it went from 71.1 to 961.8MB. What could be the cause and what do I do to fix?

First option is to perform a compact/repair on the database. Second is to import all the objects into a new database.
