I don't want to use a template, how to tell Access?

    Hello,

especially when making a report, Access imposes a template. And I can't get rid of it. Now I have to correct all the layout choices which apparently belong to the template.
Searching the Internet for solutions didn't work. I only found information of 'how to apply and use templates'; not how to get rid of them...

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Michiel

If by template you mean using the wizard then the answer is, don't use them. Just select Report Design. Having said that, I'm using 2010, not 2016 so perhaps that option has been removed.

Also, in design view - Arrange tab, you can highlight all or some of your controls and click on Remove Layout

    Thanks for your response.
No, I certainly am not using any wizard, but when I choose, indeed like I do, 'Blank form' it still has made all kind of lay-out decisions. I found the option 'Reset Layout', but it is grayed out, whatever I do...

haha, I shouldn't have used Blank Report... It looks so innocent, but it isn't. Report Design button looks as if it comes with unwanted accesoires, but it doesn't. Indeed that is the right choice. Thanks again.

I just click on "Report Design" (or "Form Design"). Is that option grayed out??
That option just displays a report (or form) with an empty grid. Add the controls you want or click on DESIGN", then "Add Existing Fields". You can select the fields to add to the report (form).

Unfortunately, Access continues to use its own choice of layout. Also after choosing 'Report Design': when putting a text box the color of the label text will be gray. The text box itself will have a solid border.

have you tried choosing themes? >File>Options>Client Settings - Default Theme

Also setting control defaults? either just for the form/report or by creating your own 'normal' form/report - see this link

    Thanks again for your help.
I think indeed that Theme is the right word, in stead of Template.
However, unfortunately... the label text stays gray, the text boxes keep having a border and the text isn't black either.

yes I read and tried all of it. As default theme it said Office Theme. I typed <none> in stead, to no avail. And I created a Normal report. But, but...
    But thanks for your help!
