Adding a Report to a split database

    hello,

I am sure one of you super users can help me with this. I need to add additional reports, queries and forms to an already split database. Do I do this in the front end of the split without messing up the users? Also, will they show up on the interface for the user who only has the access viewer (I cannot remember the proper name).

    Thanks,

    Bentley

Reports go in the FE. Each user should have a copy of the FE on their own computer.

Add the report and put a copy of the updated FE on each user's computer.

okay. As of now, the FE database is in one location, not on each computer. Do you just make copies for each person then? I am new to the split and info on this is limited...

    thanks in advance.

Yes. If all users use the same FE, you WILL corrupt your database - not a question of "IF", just "WHEN".

I do not follow that. I split the database, but I can see all the linked tables, queries, forms and reports in the other database. How do I make it an executable on each computer without messing with this FE database?

Sorry, my question is, after I make it an ACCDE file, can it still be modified by adding new forms and reports?

A BE only has the tables.
A FE has everything EXCEPT the tables (excluding any local tables).

    You CANNOT modify the ACCDE.
You modify the ACCDB, then make a new ACCDE and distribute it.

You ALWAYS need the ACCDB FE.

And you need backups of the FE (accdb) and BE (accdb).

Awesome... Thanks Steve.. I really appreciate the advice and help. I have too much work into it to have it wrecked.

    Cheers,

    Ben
