Question Multiple users querying linked tables

I have a shared Access Database. I have a linked tables (linked to CSV and XLS files). If I have a query running against the linked table, my colleague is not able to run any queries against it. Is there a setting or something that will allow multiple users on the database to query against linked tables ?

I have a shared Access Database.
Does this mean that both of you are using the same db at the same time and the db is NOT split?

Yes, we use the same DB (not split). And to clarify - we are not able to run queries against the linked table only. Querying against other tables works fine.

Having multiple users using one dB at the same time is a known cause of dB corruption.
For a multi-user dB, the db should be split into a FE and a BE, with each user having a copy of the FE on their own computer.

As far as the linked file problem, I would check:
FILE/Options/Client Settings, scroll down to "Advanced" and ensure "Default Open Mode" has "Shared" selected.

The problem may be with the Excel files - Excel is weird, doesn't like sharing at all.

Regarding Excel files being weird about sharing, gave me the idea to make the Excel file shareable which fixed the Access issue - now multiple people are able to run queries at the same time - Thank you !

The Client Settings doesn't have anything specifically for Linked Table Sharing. The rest of the operations all work fine and have been working fine for the past 2 years - we have had no sharing issues.

    Glad you figured it out.

BE AWARE: Having multiple users using one dB at the same time is a known cause of dB corruption!!

It is not a matter of IF, just a matter of WHEN....... hope you back up daily....
