Change display format on a YES/NO field

I'm trying to change the display of a YES/NO data type field from a checkbox to Yes/No. Upon creation the display defaults to checkbox. I am unable to change it to any of the other 2 options available on the Lookup tab display control, Textbox or Combobox.
How can I change this display?

check boxes are only yes/no. What else do you want?
they are on or off, no other option.

In the table, you only get to pick one of the three options. But it is still a check box. (checked or unchecked)

On a form, you can use a checkbox control - it only displays as checked or unchecked.

So, on a form, if you have a check box control add three text box controls and set all 4 control sources to the check box field in the table, you can set the format property for the first text box to "True/False", the second text box to "On/Off" and the third text box to "Yes/No".

In form view, uncheck the check box. The 3 text boxes should display "False", "Off" and "No".
Then check the check box. The 3 text boxes should display"True", "On" and "Yes".

    Does that help??
