    Exclamation Linked Data

I'm trying to link three different Excel files into my 2013 Access workbook. I have successfully linked my data from Excel into Access by clicking on the External Data tab --> Excel --> Choosing my Excel file and clicking on 'Link to the data source by creating a link table.'

However, when I try to set my Primary Key an error message pops up that says "Microsoft Access can't save property changes for linked tables."

Is there any way to set up a Primary Key for linked tables?

My goal is to eventually create a relationship between my three tables using the primary key as a common identifier in the tables and to run a query in Access to get the data I need.

    Any suggestions are appreciated!

If you are in Access and link to an Excel workbook, that does not make the Excel workbook a table. Linking to the Excel workbook allows you to access the Excel workbook LIKE a table, but you cannot change the structure of a linked object.

However, you could create a query, add the 3 linked workbooks and link fields.

I would be very suspect of the results of the query however. Excel workbooks are not normally designed to be linked to another workbook. (ie workbooks are not normally designed as a relational database table would be.)
