    .accdb and .mdb

    Hi,

Pretty new to Access and I have to convert a Access database. The customer sends me a zip file with two files in it: a .mdb and a .accdb. It seems like the .mdb contains the data but I'm not sure.
What is the connection between the two?

    Regards,
    Vruchtvet

Which db has to be converted and what do you have to convert it to.

Have you opened both files and actually looked at what's in each of them.

So perhaps they are 2 versions of the same db?

I repeat: Which db has to be converted and what do you have to convert it to.

Yes, maybe. That is exactly my question: What is the connection between the two?

Up to and including version 2003 Access files used the .mdb file type. All the later versions use the .accdb file type. So I would guess that your "customer" has sent the db in both versions so that you can work with it regardless of which version you have.

What are you instructed to convert it to?
