    senior monent - creating forms

    Hi

was experimenting with a query based on three tables. - using v2013

Just to try it I selected the form wizard and it worked perfectly but I expected to see an option for linked or nested tables but I didn't I only saw the normal 4 options, columnar,Tabular,Data sheet etc. Did I imagine an option for linked/ Nested forms

    thanks

Linked Nested Forms sounds pretty cool. I hope to upgrade out of 2007 one day. You could drag and drop the form from the navigation panel to the designer. Ive not heard of the automation you speak of.

    confusion

    I probably confused the issue

found this on the web relating to creation of forms from queries
using multiple tables in Access 2007

I dont seem to get option in 2013

"For multi-source options, choose between 'Form with subform(s)' (nesting a sub-Form in the main Form - one view) or 'Linked Forms' (have a button to open an additional Form of the sub related view recordsets). The next screen that follows will prompt you for an output for the subform of either 'Tabular' or 'Datasheet' view."

I just checked A2010 and I don't see a 'Linked Forms' option...... Not sure what a 'Linked Form' is/would be.

    Hi

it seems to be ( excuse the poor description) where a form is based on a query containing two or more tables, table one is shown in the top half as one record to a page and table two is shown in datasheet view at the bottom as a sub form with scroll bars. Or apparently you can have a button on the top part of the form to take you to the second table in a separate form and this is a linked table.

All very confusing , possibly I should stop trusting google hits ;-)

    Hi

sort of , I suspect I'm confusing the names. I just remember in the past creating a form with a sub form and during it's creation I was asked did I want to use linked or nested tables. Just niggling me that I can't remember.

No doubt I'll come across it again

    cheers
