Report exported to Word loses its formatting and has line breaks

    Hello,
I have an Access report with a Rich Text field (so that I can use italics). It looks fine on the screen in both Report and Print versions, but when I export it as a .rft file into Word, it loses its italics.

This happens whether I use the field directly or as a text box (with formatting set to Rich Text).

Also, the rich text field is exported with a paragraph/line break at the end of each line.

I plan to move the .rtf file into Publisher and both of these are problems.

Can you give me some guidance with this?

    Thanks!

Sorry I do not export to text documents unless it's a data dump. Have you considered outputting to a .pdf? I find the export to PDF handles formatting issues much more elegantly than rtf does.

    hi,
Thanks for getting back to me. (I am at quite a loss and do need a solution here.) Unfortunately, the pdf route won't work because the report must be formatted some more and then fit into a newsletter.

Hopefully, I will hear from someone else. I do appreciate your responding!

I dont think the access RTF and true Word RTF are the same thing. Can you copy the data from an access report that is formatted correctly and past it into word?

    Hello,
I haven't written back in a while, but I still have this problem.
I don't see any way to simply copy the content of a report and paste it into word.

I thought the whole point of exporting in .rtf was to preserve the formatting. If not, what is it for?

Does anybody have any other suggestions? I am seriously at a loss!
    Thanks
