Using Bar Codes with MS Access

I have a database that holds various data regarding my stock of vegetable seed packets.

I would like to be able to produce bar code labels from withing Access to attach to the actual packets, which will contain the packet code and possibly other data.

Whenever I do anything with the seeds (e.g. sow them) I would then like to use a bar code scanner or my iPhone to scan these labels to input data back into the database, even if the scanned input merely opens up a form with teh packet code in teh relevant field.

Is this currently posible, and if so can anyone suggest what software/apps I would be best using to achieve this.
