Suspend form open waiting for password authentication

    Hi all,

I am trying to control access to particular forms. I am thinking that a popup form with a password authentication procedure would suffice.
I have already built the password authentication form. It's called FrmPermission. I just want to suspend opening particular forms until after the FrmPermission has opened and password verification is complete.

So how can I use VBA to open the generic form FrmPermission, meanwhile suspending opening the target form, until the verification is completed on FrmPermission - then fire up the target form?

The target form could of course be different every time I want FrmPermission to fire...

    thanks in anticipation

    Pete

If anyone has an answer anyway, I would be very interested to see their solution just in case I (or others) might need it in the future!

The only thing that comes to my mind is opening the permission form as an input box from within the main form open event and cancelling the main open if the input doesn't pass validation. Input boxes are supposed to suspend code execution while waiting for a response, which has been my experience. However, I have only used them once or twice, but never to hold off opening a form or report. My approach has always been to hide buttons or menu items based on user permission levels so they're not even seen by users who shouldn't be able to use them.
