Accessing a MS Access 2010 table from another db

I hope that this does not sound like a unusual question, but I am looking to see if MS Access 2010 tables can be

accessed by a different database. By that I mean a database that may or may not be MS Access.

Let me give you a scenario. In our company a lot of people travel. There an office for that and they have a db there for it.
Each traveler is entered into that db once he or she gets a package from the office for departure and arrival dates, plus hotel
reservations and even if he (or she) will get a car. Finally, the contact person at the site they are traveling to is also included if it is available.

I would like to know if the db that I am creating can likewise be updated from that travel office's db (which may be MS Access or another db).
I would just need to have the outside db access my personnel table.

Thus when someone uses my db and wants an immediate snapshot of where everybody is at once time it would include the people on travel.

Any help appreciated Thanks in advance.

    Respectfully,

just link the external table as an internal one. Be it access, or excel, etc.
link it in and you can run queries on it.

Okay, but what if it is not a Microsoft product. I am unsure at present what database type the external db is.

I would assume that this could be done with Excel.SQL server, but what about Oracle?

Is the software free or what? Does one need a version for each db used or are there version say for MS Access 2010 and Oracle combo? This would spare the pain of an additional software driver install; one instead of two.

This seems like what I am after it just has little info on the internet about it.

I think this is the answer to my question, but I am not aware of the specifics of the software.
I have seen the Youtube videos and while they are informative they assume the viewer knows a lot
of the technical terms used in the Video.

Basically, I want my MS Access 2010 database to have its personnel table updated whenever an employee goes on
travel. I am currently not sure what database software is used by the travel office which controls the other database.

I am sure only of my database and what
I need to change my database whenever the travel office database creates travel orders for one of our employees. Travel orders contains dates of departure, rental
car used if requested, and travel site point of contact.

Is there a paper titled: "ODBC for Dummies" or something like it? Another would be "ODBC Software Getting Started".
Any reference that would bring a novice up to speed would be highly appreciated.

Use this as Google search info.
using MSAccess front end with Oracle back end youtube
Then use some of the links and watch the video.

Here's a video by Steve Bishop (not Oracle but concepts are same)
    Good luck.
