Table/field display order in Query Design

I am connecting to corporate database views via an ODBC connection. When I use these tables to build a query in the design view, the fields are not displayed in alphabetical order. Some of the views have over 100 fields on them. Is there a setting/preference in Access that will allow me to change the the order in which the fields are displayed? I know which fields I'm looking for, but listing them in alphabetical order would just speed up the creation of queries.

For the record, making changes to the source database views is not an option. The solution I am looking for would need to be Access specific.

Note: I am using Access 2013

    Thanks!

No, I don't have the option to run a script to reorder the names as these are tables/views used by our corporate HR/Payroll system. Thanks for trying though.

Anyone else have any ideas? It seems so simple that it should just be an option within Access. I have the option when using Crystal Reports, but it has other limitations that prevent me from using it for my current needs.

Maybe this as a work around?

    1. Open the table in Datasheet view.
    2. Export to an Excel file, using the particular procedure for your Access version.
    3. Open Excel file (if not already open).
    4. Select and copy the first row containing the headers.
    5. Add another sheet to the workbook (if none exist).
    6. Click A1.
    7. Paste Special > Transpose
    8. Sort on Alpha

    Alan,

Thanks for your suggestion, but I'm not looking for a list that I can print out. While in the Query Design mode within Access, I would like the tables that I am using to build the query to display the fields within them in alphabetical order just to make it quicker to locate them so I can drag and drop them into the query.

Tell us more about the query you are trying to build.
You say the fields are coming from a table.

You could get the names of the fields in the table, sort them, then use vba to create the query you are trying to build.

Totally untested, but I'm not sure where the difficulty lies, and I'm not clear on what your final query will be.
