Help with database for a Funeral Home

    Hi,

Firstly, never really had anything to do with databases ever and I'm having a lot of trouble applying access for a funeral home database. I have the bare bones of one but keep getting tripped up as all the examples I seem to see use access for storing information that would be used multiple times and in multiple places e.g. enrolling students or placing orders ect. Whereas I only need it to keep a record of deceased persons, their family details and funeral details which I don't need to play with once I have it in there.

Small funeral home so don't really want to buy specific software, just wondering if anyone has an example of a funeral database in access I could have a look at? By this point I'm mainly wondering if access is suitable for this kind of thing and also the company is nearly 100 years old and the boss wants every deceased person in this database since the start so I'm worried about the size limit too.

Tried to upload the database but its file size is too big for this forum :/

Start with this tutorial. Work through (45-60 minutes) the process to learn the concepts.
Then apply what you have learned to your specific problem/database.

Start by getting a good description of your task. Work from general overview; add details.
Get some test data. Apply what you learned to your "completed description of your business".
Then test your model. Here's an approach.

    For background, watch these videos

    Good luck.

This should give you a starting/reference point.

Access is appropriate. The size you're talking is not a problem.
