    Spacing issues

Ok I have a lot of reports that seem to be doing this. Access seems to have a hard time with spacing of reports.

I have so much black spaces between entries its crazy and then sometimes it will just throw in more for no reason.. I have all the fields as can grow and can shrink.. I have the report setting to no keep together as going onto the next page is fine however here is what I have below.

All my reports were created from scratch as the report wizard makes things a lot worse. The highlight at the top is space as well and then all that blank space below to the next record.

I'm probably a little bit dim, but I don't follow - what black (blank?) spaces are you talking about? I can't see anything wrong with that report. It's exactly as you designed it, isn't it?

I have tried can grow, can shrink, Auto height and non of it gets rid of all the space after one entry. Most of my reports have this issue it seems.

I can't see it on any report in dbs you uploaded previously, so if you could upload one that shows this behaviour that'd be helpful. WITH SOME DATA PLEASE
Is there another record after that first entry? And does it show on next page?

Testing_Litigation_DB1.zipHere is the db with some data. As you can see there are large blank spaces between the records for some reason.

Well, I can't replicate it as I don't have the same data as you do. There's no strange spaces between rows in what you uploaded. Open it yourself and see.
Is it possible that you have some empty lines at the ends of those records in table?
Can you also show print preview of whole page, not only fragment of it?

Ok, I know what you mean now, but don't know what may cause those blank spaces. First thing I'd do is getting rid of layout. I'll try few thing myself later when I have more time and will come back to you

By layout, do you mean the layout view? Yeah really baffled on this one.

    Thanks
    Peter

No, I mean layout for controls, like this:

I'm not convinced it will help in anything, but I always find it creating more problems than benefits.
Sorry, but I din't have time yet to do anything with your report problems, quite a busy time at work now

Unfortunately when I remove the layout it then allows the fields to be pushed down when other data grows in other columns.

Still struggling with this. Wonder if there is coding out there to do this? I have tried all combos of shrink no shrink there are and still have huge gaps after each entry.

    Thanks
    Pete

    Hi Pete,
Sorry, but I can't find time atm to dig in it more. It's probably doable but needs more investigation and I've been quite busy at work for a while. Hopefully someone else can jump in with solution but if not, I promise to come back to it when my other activities allow.
