"Settings Gear" symbol for command button

I'd like to place a "gear" icon on a A2003 command button similar to what we commonly see on most of our mobile devices these days.............users are becoming used to what it means. I can create a bmp image, but not with transparent surroundings so that only the gear itself is visible.

    Anyone run across this desire?

Save as bmp. Then load icon via the properties.

I don't know how to create a bmp image where the area surrounding a gear is transparent. Your thought would be perfect if I could.

how you set a transparent background depends on the application you are using to modify the image. Refer to the applications help as to how to do this.

Alternatively if you don't have such an application and want a free one, I suggest Gimp - google to find the download

Or just google something like 'create a transparent background' to find other applications and online resources.

I need to clarify, I can create the image okay but I don't know how to create a bmp formatted image. I did find an assortment of gears at http://findicons.com/search/gear with transparent backgrounds but A2003 does not support the embed of ico nor png files in command button controls. All of the editing apps I have, including PhotoShop, warn that when saving an ico image as bmp that transparency will be lost.

I think I'm out of luck on this caper.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I personally use .png for all my button icons. Good quality, no problem with transparency but it's Access 2010. For 2003 I'd try to create pictures with standard button colour instead of transparency, that way they would look transparent on A2003 buttons.
