    is it normal ??

    Hello Guys
i'm new to this forum, so my friend gave me this access database and i was a bit curious when it had a size of 10MB while it only contains 4 tables 3 forms and only 1 query
    Table number Number of columns
    1 10
    2 11
    3 70
    4 70
there are no records in the tables
Please do note that i'm still a beginner regarding access

Try a Compact and Repair and see if that reduces the size.
Seventy fields in a single table seems very high number to me. Is the db properly normalized.
If this helped, please click the star at the bottom left of this posting and add to my reputation . Many thanks.

    Hello Bob
    thank you for replying
the compact and repair did nothing
for the database as far as i know it is properly normalized
to the database is made to be a kind of a survey that will be shared and filled by other users (i don't know if this helps =)

agree with Bob, 70 columns in a table is very high and does not seem normalized. is there repeating data in these columns and what is the data type and field size?

Well as I said previously it is some kind of a questionnaire that will be used later by another software that analyse and give some reports
As far as the dB the size just shrinked to 3.7 mb I don't know what happend maybe the compact and repair worked after several tries or I deleted some hidden options
So is there anyway to have a report about the compact and repair options ??
