New access user looking for some help or advice with reports and macros.

    Hello,
I am a relatively new access user with a small amount of knowledge from an introductory university course. I am trying to create a database for a catering business that includes menu items and their individual prices as well as prices based on the number of attendees (25,50,75,100). I have created tables for each type of food (Appetizers, Breakfast, Entree...) that includes the menu item and an item number, I have also created reports for each table. My idea would be to select individual menu items and the onclick macro will go to a new table that has the cost of the menu item and then cells with formulas to multiply the price by the number of attendees. My issue is that I am unable to select specific menu item numbers to use the onclick macro, I am only able to select different sections of the report such as the labels. Is it possible for this action to happen?Click image for larger version.

Since you are new, I'm going to suggest a tutorial from RogerssAccessLibrary.
Spend 30-45 minutes working through it to learn concepts of database and table design.
You have to work through it, but you will learn.
Use it to make sure your table is designed to support your needs.

Getting your tables and relationships designed to support your business rules is absolutely essential to having an effective database.

I suggest this one, if only for the Hernandez method info.

I don't use macros. Seems you could select various menu items via a query with some targeted criteria to get the set you need.

    Good luck.

You should be using forms, not reports for this.
    Forms are for Adding/editing data.
    Reports are for printing,
