How do I add more fields to my query?

When creating a Query and building relationships to certain tables, I notice that Access allows up to 16 field inputs. How do I increase this? My query accesses 4 files that are linked and has a total of 20 fields I need to use when creating a report. Is there a way to increase this 16-field limit? Thanks!

Where/How did you notice this. AFAIK it is possible to have many times more fields in a query than this. I can't remember the exact number but I'm sure it is over 200. What stops you from creating a query with more than 16 fields.

I think the actual limit is 255.

Access displays only 16 columns as default when you use query designer, but it doesn't mean you're limited to 16 fields only. I don't know actual limit (it could be 255 though as Bob says) but you can still add new columns/fields using "Insert column" button on Ribbon.

I understand the phenomena being posted. Sometimes there is no new empty column to the far right. Use the 'Insert Column' feature from the ribbon to make a new column within the 16 displaying.... you can then drag those to the right or wherever you want them to be.
