    Database Form No Longer Opening

    I have a database that runs some VB when it opens and then displays an initial data entry form. At some point over the last 2 months this procedure has stopped working, i.e. the form does not appear. In addition, if I try to manually open the form I get what looks like a really quick view of the form opening and then closing. Another strange thing is that I can't right-click on any of the database objects and go into design view. It gets even stranger. I restored a copy of this file from backup and get the same results. No big deal. However, I tried to open another copy of it that I have stored elsewhere, from over a year ago, and now I'm getting the same behaviour in that copy. What am I missing here? How could both copies suddenly stop working, especially when one has been sitting untouched for a year or more.

    something's afoot. A backup would not do this. Virus?
    IF you cannot design anything then the Access app itself may be corrupted.
    Mine did strange stuff and crashed (not like you) but I had to swap laptops. Access would NOT run on my current one.

    This database and VB code was originally designed in Access 2000. I see that there have been some updates to my system for MS Access 2010 and Office 2010 over the past couple of months. I'm wondering if something has completely wacked Access's ability to work with this database.

    I came across a tip to hold down SHIFT while opening the database to bypass all starting options. When I do this I actually get to the programs and can right click on objects. If I open the form that's supposed to open at start up I get a VB message box that reads

    Run-time error '94':
    Invalid use of Null

    If I choose to debug the debugger opens with a highlighted line that says

    custNo = [ReportRunnerChild].[Form]![CustNumber]

    I'm not really a VB person but I'm wondering if this is the cause of my problem, though nothing has changed on this database in years.

    Does anyone have any suggestion for where to go from here?
