Data Type Mismatch in Criteria expression error msg

Using A2007. I have a report that I have been using successfully in Print Preview format for years. I want to change it to Report View. When I switch to report view, I get a message "Data Type Mismatch in Criteria expression". The report is sourced to a query. The sub report is sourced to a table. I reviewed other posting that also discussed this message, but found nothing that fits.

Strangely, If I remove the sub report, the message doesn't appear when I switch to report view. So somehow, the sub report is the source of the message Is this a sign of corruption or is there some logical explanation?.

Not relevant, but earlier, based on other postings and before I found out that the sub was involved, I removed all criteria from the source query and still had the problem.

Any help much appreciated, driving me crazy.

Would have to review data structure and report design - if you want to provide db.

Before I send the DB, I tried one more thing - still puzzled. The query source for the master is sourced to two queries. The queries are linked with an ID primary key from a source table common to both queries. (also a non-primary control link from same table). The sub contains that same primary key no (not as a primary, just an identifier for multiple items) It also contains the other control. The sub is linked to the master with those two controls.

If I remove the link for the primary key, I don't get the error. I made sure that the primary key shows only once in the source query and gave it a different name, but still get the error.

Well, that's confusing. I will have to review db.
