Changing data type with linked file

    Hello all,

I have a linked Excel spreadsheet that contains a couple of improperly formatted columns... specifically time. How can I maintain the link, and alter the two columns so they are date/time formatted?

The raw text is already formatted as "01-06-2016 17:48", for example.

I just need to tell Access that this is a date/time data and not text.

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Well, don't think you can.

However, you can manipulate the text field to convert to a date value in a query or textbox or VBA.

    CDate([fieldname])
