Letters with accents in a text file become garbage when imported into Access.

I export to a text file and create a new database with thattext file only to find that a number of letters with accents are now garbage(examples: in the text file é becomes Ú and è becomes Þ. This won’t do! Please, how do I fix this?

    Either change the font,
or set text in config file to UNICODE.
    UNICODE accepts accented letters.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I should have pointed out at the outset that you need to assume you're dealing with an idiot. I've changed the font in the access database AND in the text file, and it didn't recover the accents. What, in greater detail, did you mean. Secondly, what "config file" are you referring to, in which I should change it to UNICODE? PLEASE reply with painstaking (for both of us) detail. Thanks again. Sorry about my limitations.
