    Removal of Password

Hello respected Access enthusiasts and experts!

Sounds silly but wanna know how can one remove the internal password of an Access Database. I mean the passwords set to "Reset" database.I want to change the headings of a database according to my needs.

    Best Regards

    Bhatti

You have to open the database in exclusive mode. (Open MS access, select file>Open and click dropdown arrow besides Open and select "exclusive"). Then you can choose to change or remove password.

Let me Explain further. I have a database created by a programmer (whom I don't know).I inherited this application. He has set up two types of passwords. One pw for opening the database and the other is setup inside the database So that someone may not change the base tables.but I want to make some changes in those tables ( to rename the tables ).how can this be done?

It seems that it is db having user level security (discontinued since Access 2007). In that case, there are different passwords for different users. You have to find a way to retrieve the owner/admin password.
One pw for opening the database and the other is setup inside the database
Can't follow second part, password setup inside . . .

Ok...by the second part "pw setup inside" I mean there is a password protection that disabled the ribbon ,one cannot use the by default menus and insists the user to use the switchboard only. There are some base tables we cannot modify them it prompts for password.

Could it be a Front-End / Back-End set up where the tables in the front-end are simply "Linked" to the back-end, and it's the back-end that is password protected ?

There is/was no password on the BE.

It is complaining about making changes using the wrong version of Access - A2002 instead of A97.

You may be out of luck then. As you may know, the developer has the option to enable (default) or disable specific aspects of the menu ribbon. If that developer disabled one or many aspects of those menus, then password protected the database (the backend portion), then you are most likely out of luck unless you can recover the password somehow. Google MS Access Password Recover and see if anything suits your situation.
