It's a split database, so I should post front end and back end, yes?

Change combobox field fill color if list is populated.zip

    Attached.

Go into the BOM Entry form, and type in the left most combobox "ExampleInput".

I realize that this is an older post, however, I do have a question that is close to the OP. Is there a way to apply the color based on the selection of the drop down box?

I.e. Drop down has two choices (Pass & Fail), can it be set up to select the BackColor = vbGreen if Pass is selected and vbRed if Fail is selected?

Should be, go to Design/Conditional Formatting, and select the field, the value you want to check and select the new color. DO a 2nd condition for the other option.
