Cannot import excel or text files

In my ancient Access 97, on the drop down list for imports I only have a few options. I cannot import text files, csv, Excel, etc. Those options just aren't in the drop list, yet I know they are supported. How do I fix it? I checked the Microsoft Knowledge Base, but don't see anything.

    Thanks!!!!

I dont know what the problem would be there. In the meantime, try the good ol copy+paste.

Stupid Microsoft. They make everything SO hard. I finally found a solution after jerking around for hours. Here is a link that shows how to fix it. Method #2 does the trick.

Apparently the appropriate dlls were not registered. Of course! How obvious! I repeat, stupid Microsoft.
