I know this is ACCESS, but I have an OUTLOOK Issue

I am trying to establish an Outlook eMail Account that will import the mail from my Gmail account using POP3. I had an account that was working 3 months ago, but I had a computer issue that required the OS to be reinstalled. Now I CANNOT set up the outlook account. I believe that I have followed all of the instructions that were provided by gmail. I sought help from the Outlook Forum, but did not get any replies.

    Thank you
    Janice

I haven't done this, and I don't use Outlook on this PC, but I found a couple of links that may help.
    this one and

this via Google and thought I should pass it on.

Thank you for the reply and the link. Unfortunately, the link gave me the same information that I got from gmail... and I can't seem to get it to work. I'm using Outlook 2013.

OK. I don't use Outlook, but this link has a lot of references. Try it.

What problems are you running into exactly? Are you getting any specific error messages or is Outlook hanging/freezing (and if so, when does it happen)? Please be as specific as you can - the more information we get the better we can help.

Also, do you have 2-step verification enabled?

On the Gmail side, I enabled POP3 for all mail.
On the Outlook side I did the following.

Add New Account - Manual set up
Selected "POP3 or IMAP - hit next

    User Information
    Name: my name
    Email: my email address

    Server Information
    Account Type: POP3
    Incoming mail server: POP.gmail.com
    Outgoing mail server: SMTP.gmail.com

    Logon Information
    username: my email address
    password: my password
    checked "save password"
checked "Require login using secure password authentication (SPA)

    clicked more settings

General -- assigned a name to the account
    Outgoing Server
Selected "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
Selected "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
    Advanced
    Incoming Server POP3 - 995
Selected "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)"
    Outgoing Server (SMTP) - 465
Use the following type of encrypted connections -- SSL

... and I don't understand it, but it all just worked... I've tried this multiple times over the past several days and it failed...

    Who knows... ?

Thank you for responding... I got more help here than I did at the Outlook Forum.

    Janice
