Make Table Query will not make a table that already exists

Hello all! I've used many Make Table queries before with no problems, but for some reason I'm running into problems now. I'm not sure why!

When I try to run the query, a window pops up saying "Table 'My Table' already exists."

Normally I'm used to a window popping up warning me that it is going to delete the table that already exists and then I click "yes" and the query replaces the old table with the new table. That's what I want to happen here. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Jessica

Instead of deleting and re-creating tables, why not have all tables pre-created, and then just use Delete Queries to erase all the data in them and Update Queries to populate them?

I prefer this method, as it allows me to easier set and maintain all the Field Properties in my table easily (whereas with a Make Table Query, you are at the mercy of how Access thinks it should be set up).

SUCCESS!!!! That worked perfectly except instead of using update queries, I'm using append queries (just because I'm more familiar with append queries and am not sure how to create an update query in this situation).

    THANK YOU!!!!!
