    forms in design view

I am new to access. I have it on my computer and thought it might be useful so I am trying to learn it. I made a test database and it does display my data when I run a report. I am trying to design the output and I have noticed that when I try to reposition the label, it drags the text box with it. How can I separate them so that I can put the label wherever I want it to be?

Select the textbox(es), right click and select Layout/Remove.

Thank you. I see that gives me more options for moving the labels. I have the option for tabular or stacked. The only time remove layout is available is if I choose one of those. This does still link the two fields together. So I am guessing there is no way to really separate them?

Layout>Remove ungroups controls that have been created as a group by form/report design wizards. This is why I don't use the wizards, they do things I don't like. However, this will not separate the label from its associated control. The only way I know to disassociate label and control is to select just the label and delete it then paste it back (Ctrl+x, Ctrl+v). Otherwise, 'move' the label by resizing it.

Ooops, I just remembered that a label and associated control can be moved independently of each other by clicking on the little box at upper left of each - click and drag.
