    Prevent copying of db

Suppose I have an access db on my desktop in the office.
    It is a standalone application.
How do I prevent an user (who is allowed access to the db in the office) from copying the db or emailing the db,etc & using it on some other computer ?

    Thanks

I suppose the same way to prevent any file from being copied and emailed. Virtually impossible I would think. This is an IT network security issue. Don't buy computers with USB ports and CD/DVD drives? Don't allow emails with attached zip and mdb/accdb files?

    That is depressing.
Does it mean, if an organization is using access db, an employee can copy an application along with the data & take it home, if restrictions on Ports, Drives or Email attachments are not possible ?

    Thanks

AFAIK, essentially true. After all, they are just files. There are ways to make it harder - split db, password encryption, executable run-time frontend, no Access install.

    Sorry for the delayed response.
As usual, you have given me options to explore & I think, they will be of help in securing the application to a great extent.
Split db - Think I should be able to find out more on my own.
Password Encryption - Think I should be able to find out more on my own.
Executable run-time frontend - Are you indicating accde ?
No Access install - Can you elaborate on this please ?

    Thanks
