    access restricting users

I am trying to update a database so that multiple users can access the database but trying to limit what fields certain users can change.

the database has to be told which records a user can view. So presuming you make them login with a unique ID - - then that ID can be used as a criteria filter in all the queries that are record sources. but it means in the data records themselves there must be a field with some ID reference.

b.t.w. this is not at all unusual lets say for Sales people to only be able to see their own data - - so when they are inputting data - unbeknownst to them - one is inserting their ID into a field in each record they make....

that way when they go to look at data - each record contains a unique ID - and they are only seeing their own data...
