    Rank or Primary Key?

I have a query with about 100 locations with vendor expenses for each location. I'd like to assign a rank value and filter for just the top 10 vendors for each department based on a 2 year average. Assigning a primary key that starts at 1 for every department would work as well since the current sorting parameters put them in a department/top vendor order. The data is going to end up in a report so solution for a report or query would work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did see that thread while searching for a solution. But I don't think that would work for multiple #1 rankings? Each Department should have #1-10, and I'd like to filter out anything above that.

Right, ties are an issue but I thought Allen addressed that?
