How much does SQL Server cost? Is there anyway to get a cheap version for production?

We have a small business and only need about 7 people to have access to the database but once we get into production we will have a lot of data so I'd like to get SQL Server on a dedicated server. What is are the pricing options of SQL Server? Ive seen a lot of different prices but not sure what the difference is

You can start with the free version:

But I cant use that if other people need to access the database can I? I thought that if its for more than just development and playing around with or if you will have multiple users accessing the database like on our client server network we will need to buy a license?

    In the description it says:

"SQL Server Express is a free edition of SQL Server ideal for developing and powering desktop, web and small server applications."

which would appear to support your needs, but you're free to purchase a regular version if you want. The licensing options and pricing are in that same area of their site.

The key distinction is the 10GB of storage limitation on the freebie. My understand of SQL Server is the full version has no size limitation. So they offer the freebie expecting you will be back someday to buy the big boy.
