Well, a Macbook Pro is a nice laptop but a bit expensive compared to DELL that I've been using now. Its actually a trusted brand based on design, support and performance.

I am not much of a hardware person and am not sure what I should be looking for. It would be a computer that is strickly dedicated to Access database, VBA programming, and probably some large excel files and macro creation.

My only stipulation is that I do NOT want a Win8 computer. I have been looking on amazon, but I really have no idea what to do when it comes to hardware... Any ideas?

    Thanks!!
Mac is best option. Check this one https://www.apple.com/in/macbook/specs/

Yup, my sister-in-law has a MacBook Pro. That's also good. By the way, i forgot to mention that aside from Sony Vaio laptop that I'm using, a Dell brand can be also recommended. My husband prefers it very much.

Also, since you are not the OP, you should start your own thread and reference this thread.
You will get more reads (hits) than a thread that is old and not your thread.... I'm just sayin....

    500GB SSD 2.5"
    16GB RAM
