Post Pivot table linked to secured Access database: password issue

    hi,

i've encrypted my Access DB with a password.
now, I want to link my pivot-table to this DB. unfortunately when selecting the encrypted DB a log-in box appears and KEEPS ON asking for the password. I don't get an error message but the box simply keeps on appearing asking for the password.

could someone tell me what to do?

    thx

    hi June7,

    thx for the prompt reply.
unfortunately, my problem is that the Connection String doesn't seem to save my password AND I keep on getting the request to fill in my password on and on again......

I've never password protected a db. Want to provide yours for testing? Follow instructions at bottom of my post.

BTW, Access 2013 eliminates Pivot Table/Chart views.

    hi June7,

I think I've managed to attach:

book2 = excel file (source file where I enter data feeding my access file)
    DB7 = password = "1"
pivottable on access7 = pivottable linked to db7

problem is: I can't refresh my pivottable anymore since I've encrypted the DB.
even when entering "1" in the password field; the request keeps on coming back

Okay, see the password issue. Can't refresh nor edit the connection to password protected db. Period. I give up.

Why are you linking Access to a spreadsheet then another spreadsheet linking to that linked data? Why are you using pivot table in Excel? The data looks same as the original data in book2 worksheet, no pivot as far as I can see.

A CROSSTAB query in Access can pivot data.
