    Connect 64bit To 32bit Through ODBC, SQL Server 2008

    I just setup a new Win2011 64bit SBS server which is now hosting our website (Was on an old 2003 server, where 2008 SQL was hosted on too). Some of the functions of our site need to access a SQL 2008 DB that's on a 2008 32bit SBS server. I'm having issues with it actually seeing the 32 bit machine. Should it see it or do I need something else?

    on 64 bit machines there's actually 2 sets of ODBC drivers and you likely have to set the same stuff in both locations

    For 64-bit (on a 64-bit machine) :: Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Data Sources (ODBC)

    For 32-bit (on a 64-bit machine) :: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe

    because I couldn't remember the way I did it before.

    That's what I thought. But there's other issues which I just found out. I have a couple of pcs that are having a hard time connecting to that server. Although I have about 8 other pcs that are working just fine. Can't figure out whyClick image for larger version.

    Are the PC's that aren't working 32 bit? I don't think you can look at a 64 bit machine FROM a 32 bit machine but a 64 bit machine can see both 64 and 32 bit machines.

    I haven't encountered this error so I'm not going to be much help but here a possibility:

    I figured out what another tech did... It didn't make since that's why I didn't check the firewall. However, he setup the connections to only public and not domain. Everyone and the servers are on a domain. I don't know what he was thinking. Thanks for the help
