Access to word merge doesn't work on new Windows 7 computer (file not found)

    Hey people,
I am a home inspector and am having a bit of a problem that is way over my head. About ten years ago I had bartered with a client (who has now passed away) to develop a simple data form input in access that when record is completed it would open up a Microsoft word template and merge all the data into a document that I would save as a doc and then edit.
Due to computer failure I moved the setup to a new computer and it now fails to work. Data input is fine, but the mail merge to the template fails (file not found).
This setup is critical to my business and now am dead in the water.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I am using way old version of office and would like to upgrade the system to a newer version as well.
    Thanks,
    Gary

Why Word merge? Why not just a report in Access?

I've never done a Word merge but apparently something in the merge setup tells the process where the files are stored. Probably need to map a drive identical to the mapping on the old computer or find out where this pathing is specified in code and change it. Build report in Access and this pathing reference no longer an issue.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

If your customer used VBA, then maybe you could find the path by clicking Alt-F11 and searching for .doc in the whole code. That might show you the path it is expecting.

Once you know that, place your word file in that path, and it should work.

    Good luck.
