    Hiding backend file

    Hi All,

I have a Access DB that is split. I have the back end stored on the network in a folder.

What I am wanting to do is hide the actual database file in that directory so user cannot see it, only access it through the front end file.

When I uncheck list folder content from the folder security, the user can no longer access the DB.

Does anyone know how to get around this??

Also, tried hiding the file but if the user has it selected to show hidden files they are still able to see it.

    Thanks!

ChrisAnthony - Don't know if this will help in your situation but, a while back I recall seing a post wherein it was suggested that you could create an unbound form with a password text box in the (Backend) that displays when the DB (backend) is opened. If the password is entered correctly, the DB(Backend) opens, otherwise, it closes. This may eliminating the need to hide the file by not allowing direct access by anyone other than yourself. Additionally, a timer event tied to such a form, could also be used to force the backend to close.

    Hope this helps,

    Jim
