Question Automatically enter today's date when entering time

    Hi,

I am trying to put together a patient admission database. Just as a preliminary warning, since our IT dept is useless I am unable to use macros (they will not provide me with a digital signature).
I am stuck at time stamping. The default value trick does not work, because access creates an empty a new record in line 16 when you start filling in line 15. So the time when record 15 is filled in will be stamped onto record 16, an the time when record 16 will be stamped onto record 17.
What I would need is either manual new record creation, or some way of entering the date into the same field when entering the "time arrived" for a patient. My colleagues would be happy to enter time but I can't expect them to enter the date for every single patient.

    Any help is much appreciated.

I need to clarify, are you inputting your data directly into a table?

    Hi,

I wanted to use a form, but because of the nature of the database, this form needs to display all patients in the last 24 hours (I have not problem with this), and also the new record.

    Thanks

Just to clarify, the form needs to display the last 24 hours because it is filled in in 3 steps:
    1. A doctor accepts a referral (timestamp - new record created)
    2. A doctor sees the patient (they can manually fill in their time, I can later link this to the date entered by timestamp, although timestamp would be nice)
    3. A senior reviews the patient (also, can manually enter time, although usually seen on the next day, so timestamp would be nice)

    Thanks!

If you give me an idea of your table structure I might be able to throw an example together for you.

    Table_name

    PK_field1
    field2
    fk_field3
    etc

    Hi,
Table: time referred, time arrived, first name, surname, seen by junior, time seen, seen by senior, time seen. Roughly. Ideally all "time" fields would be automatically timestamped with full date, with an option to manually overwrite (sometimes people would put time in in retrospect)

    Many thanks.
