    ID Counter Problem

    Hi

I use Northwind to manage my business

It came with some preinserted products:

    1 Marmelade
    2 Juice
    3 Apples

I deleted them to insert my products, but the counter didn't reset, example:

I delete all northwind preinserted products
    I insert my products

    4 Book
    5 Pen
    6 Pencil

The counter remember the number of products that were in before I deleted them, how to set "Book" as number 1? I cant modify it on the Table, I cannot find where the counter is located and how to modify it

Tnx and sry for my english

I don't know the database but I assume the counter is an autonumber so it will just keep incrementing even if you delete records.

To start from 1 you need to delete the records again but this time do a compact/repair before you add your products.

If it is an AutoNumber then here is a good article on the subject: http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/Aut...t-t443604.html
