Unhappy Reversing Conversion from Access 07 to Access 2000

Hi, the office of a small organization with whom I volunteer has Access 07. Somehow a new staff unknowly/somehow saved everything in Access 2000. Next day on attempting to open the file in Access 07, the staff was denied access - a pop up box stated file does not exist or the file name was not recognized. The file can be accessed through use of My Computer: Windows 7, but the file appears to be an Access 2000. How can we get back to it being an 07 file and accessing it in Access 07?

You now understand you should have an archived backup but have you tried *importing* the mdb into a fresh new db? http://www.btabdevelopment.com/ts/impnew

Is this a split db (FE/BE)? is it on more than one machine?

Reversing Conversion from Access 07 to Access 2000

Rural Guy: Thank you for taking the time to first answer and second to follow up. As to your question Is this a split db (FE/BE)? is it on more than one machine? This is one file and the file is on only one machine. Graeme

the extension names for an Access2000 database and an Access2007 database are different: .mdb... and .accdb.

Access 2007 should have no problem with opening a .mdb database. I do it all the time.

Access 2007 should easily be able to save it to a new Access 2007 format, as long as the older database is not encoded.
